Let’s get real… Your big brain, high standards, and 24/7 work ethic have landed you in a great academic career. The problem is that academia also taught you to be a singularly focused workaholic. Now that you have your tenure track position, you struggle to meet the seemingly endless requests for time, attention, and work. When there’s no difference between your ‘work hours’ and your home hours, your life feels exhausting and unsustainable.

According to Stats Canada 2022, women in academia continue to be underrepresented and remain at lower levels of tenure compared to men. Why? Structural sexism and inequalities are baked into the culture and institution of academia.

My mission is to support women’s progress through the ranks of academia, and to do so with more health, ease, and God forbid, joy.

As a career coach, I mentor women in academia to find the academic success they need, and the personal life they crave.

I’m Dr. Rebecca

I understand the pressures that you are under first-hand. I have struggled with trying to be ambitious and productive, while also trying to be an amazing partner, parent, friend, and so on. Juggling ambition, productivity, and all your roles as a woman can be tough, and the added pressure of societal expectations can make you feel bad for going after your goals or wanting it all.

I am passionate about working with you—a strong, smart, and caring person who wants sustainability, professional success, and ​personal fulfillment. The world of academia is filled with structural and social inequalities, but the good news is that there is significant autonomy to tailor your path. I can help you navigate this landscape to align with your professional and personal aspirations.

Over many years of experience, I have helped hundreds of high-achieving women with burnout and workplace stress. Through spending many years in academic and institutional settings, I understand the unique challenges women encounter.

Yes. I am happy to provide services to any professional woman or caregiver who is struggling to juggle work and life demands. I have helped physicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs, health care professionals and more – if you think we could be a fit, feel free to book in a complimentary mentorship call.

No. Unfortunately, coaching is not considered eligible for health insurance coverage. Many academics and professionals do have monies dedicated to ongoing training and development and these monies could be applicable for coaching services.

Although Dr. Rebecca worked for many years as a traditional therapist, she is no longer working in this capacity. Traditional therapy is generally geared toward (negative) symptom management and relief. Coaching is based on a more goal-oriented, optimizing health and well-being approach.
